LEADERSHIP AT FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH

DRAKE CROMER-MOORE
Pastor
Drake (Right) grew up in a large nondenominational church and began to pursue his call to ministry after high school. He attended Cedarville University, a fundamentalist Southern Baptist school in rural Ohio, for Biblical Studies. He served as a youth minister at a small nearby baptist church. After he left Cedarville, he discovered a more loving and inclusive Christianity in his independent study of theology. Reading authors like Rachel Held Evans, Peter Enns, and Nadia Bolz-Weber, he was lead to the Disciples of Christ, first attending Mount Lebanon Christian Church in Pittsburgh.
Drake resides with his husband, Brent (Left), in Gainesville with their four dogs, Rudy, Ruby, Roxy, and Reba.
OUR ELDERS
Here to Serve You

MARCY HOOPAUGH
I am a mother of two grown children and a grandmother of one. For most of my childhood and adulthood I have been a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Gainesville with my two sisters and my parents (my brothers as well when they were younger and lived in town). My father was an elder in the church until his death. My mother is still a current active member of the church. I was married in the church and my children were dedicated and baptized in the church. In this body of Christ over the years I have been honored to serve as elder, deacon, choir member, Sunday School teacher, worship leader, Christian education chairperson, membership committee member, leader of children's 'moment' during the church service, and leader of Worship and Wonder for our children from ages 3 through grade 3. I have seen God work in and through this church family through good times and bad times. His love guides us each and every day.

CHUCK GARRIS
My wife and I relocated from Phoenix, Az to Gainesville Fl, in 1998 after retiring from AT&T. We have five children, and numerous grands and great grands.
Our family living in Gainesville consists of our daughter Gail, her daughter Sonya, her husband Mark, and their three children Gabriella, Lillianna, and Ethan. Gabby and Lilly are twins.
I was born in Monroe NC, my parents relocated to Brooklyn NY, went to elementary school PS104 in Brooklyn, and attended High school in Staten Island NY. Traveling from Brooklyn to StatenIsland involved two city buses and one ferry boat. After graduating from High School I enlisted in the USAF where I received training in RADAR Maintenance and Microwave Communication.
I attended Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ, where I earned a BS degree in Industrial Engineering.
The training that I received in the USAF opened the doors for job assignments in the Arctic, theUS, Europe, and Mideast.
How did l end up in Gainesville? After retiring, we were told to check Gainesville out, we did and the rest is history. The couple that we purchased our home from were members of FCC and they suggested that would be a congregation to become a part of since we were looking for a church home.
After attending for several months, we decided to join FCC in 1998. I have served as a Deacon, Choir Member, and Led Sunday School class, Property Chair, Personnel Chair, Assistant Moderator, and Elder.
When I look into the mirror I want to see a Holy Spirit- filled person smiling back at me.
